WHAT KIND OF TREE IS THIS?

I've been meaning to post this picture of a tree that was in Estes Park, CO for a while now but kept forgetting. I'm not sure what kind of a tree it is. I found it interesting to say the least. It's got pine needles and pine cones but the bark is like an Aspen or a Birch tree. Not sure which. Does anybody know what it may be? (Maybe a forester will read my post and know what the answer is).

  1. Sorry, I'm into Nature, but I'm more a Birds 'n Bees person! I tried Googling Estes Park trees, and didn't come up with anything. That's as far as my technical expertise travels!

  4. I looked in my Estes Park book for you, but came up with nothing. I sure do love that place. The road up makes me soooooo sick, but well worth it. :)

  5. Thanks for the responses. I am out of ideas of what it could be. I googled "white bark pine trees" and pictures of them actually came up but didn't really look like my pictures of them. Shana,...I know what you mean about the road up there. The first time we went up was after Nathan and Pamela came up for my birthday last year. Us women were in the back seat. NOT A GOOD IDEA if you get car sick like I do! But it is beautiful.

  6. Never seen one before but it is a beautiful tree! We spent a week up there with Parker and his 6th grade class. You think I would have learned all of the tree names after that science field trip!!
